The Music of Nodame Cantabile

Synopsis:

Based on the hit comic book by Tomoko Ninomiya, this is a fun-filled quirky romantic story of two very opposite people.

Megumi Noda, or “Nodame” is a piano student at Momogaoka College of Music. An extremely talented pianist who wants to be a kindergarten teacher, she prefers playing by ear rather than reading the music score. She is messy and disorganized, takes baths several days apart and loves to eat, sometimes stealing her friend’s lunchbox when it is filled with delicacies.

Shinichi Chiaki, is Momogaoka’s top student. Born into a musical family, he is talented in piano and violin and has secret ambitions to become a conductor. An arrogant multi-lingual perfectionist who once lived abroad in the music capitals of the world as a young boy, he feels mired in Japan because of a childhood phobia.

They meet by accident. Nodame quickly falls in love, but it takes much longer for Chiaki to even begin to appreciate Nodame’s unusual qualities. Their relationship causes them both to develop and grow. Because of Nodame, Chiaki got the opportunity to lead a student orchestra and begins to have a broader appreciation of people's musical abilities. Because of Chiaki, Nodame faces her fears and enters a piano competition. Opportunities open up as both begin taking risks, stretching themselves far more than they ever thought possible.

NOTE FROM ME: As of now, Nodame Cantabile is being aired in GMA 7, although the network will be replacing it immediately by Kim Sam Soon. I don't know what could be the exact reason why they're replacing it, and come to think of it, a lot of scenes were cut.

I just hope that they really know what they're doing, because it will surely ruin their reputation. Bring back Nodame Cantabile GMA 7, if you don't mind!

The Dark Horse had reached the TOP!

The Eight Season of the reality/talent show American Idol had reached its end, crowning the new winner: KRIS ALLEN.

A 23 year old college student from Conway, Arkansas had won the title of one of the most famous show in the world. But not everyone expected it to happened since his competitor, Adam Lambert, was really an early favorite. With the talent and showmanship Adam has in every performance, it's pretty much obvious that he will win the title. Even the judges, especially Simon and Paula, believed that he is deserving to win until the end.

But at a certain time in the competition, the table started to turn. Kris Allen, whom they called the Dark Horse, started to improved his performances and even amazed the judges. With his guitar and piano playing skills, he earned his spot in the final two, and even the heart of a lot of people.

Even Danny Gokey, which was also one of the favorites and was expected to be with Adam in the finals, was voted out in the competition. This just showed that there were already a lot of Kris Allen fans, that includes me, who watches the show.

But honestly, I expected Danny to win the crown if only he wasn't booted out. He has a great singing voice which is better than Kris', and more smooth than Adam's. But then, that's not enough for him to advanced.

With Kris' stellar performances with songs like Falling Slowly, She Works Hard for the Money, Ain't no Sunshine and Heartless, he emerged as the winner of American Idol Season 8. His first single for his album would be No Boundaries, which was co-written by Idol judge Kara DioGuardi, and was performed by him after he was declared the winner.


Well, good luck Kris with your upcoming career in Hollywood! Hope you show everyone why you deserved winning the title as the winner of the American Idol.

Rakista: Rock On!

What will you do if you place 5 different people, with 5 different personalities, in one rock band? It will surely be one heck of a ride.

"Rakista" is just one of the shows of TV5. It is currently shown every Thursday night at 7:00 P.M. and replays during Sundays at 1:00 in the afternoon. The show's all about college students who decided to form a rock band with their own purposes.

The cast, led by Carlo Aquino as Caloy, really makes a perfect combination for this kind of show. Caloy, together with Ted (played by Charles Christianson), co-founded their band, "The Love Team". Ted is the also the band's manager. His real intention is to be famous in order to meet lots of girls.

On the way, they met Nix (played by Alcris Galura), which really looked familiar since he joined the reality show "Coca-Cola Ride to Fame" in GMA, the brother of Glaisa de Castro, and appeared to some shows in TV. He is the most talented musician in the band and their lead guitarist. Due to misunderstandings, he had to live a lot of bands. Later on we'll know if he will do the same in "The Love Team".

They also met Bebe (played by Rhea Nakpil), who was a product of "Starstruck" of GMA. She's the bassist of the band and doesn't admit that she's an EMO. She and Nix became enemies, and later on, became lovers... and then ex-lovers. She also once a member of the Secosana Gang.

And lastly, Sven (played by Wincy Ong), the band's drummer. The maybe is the most energetic and comedic member, and even has a taste in art. He later on had a girlfriend named Rose Mary Jane.

Other cast members are Denise Laurel, who plays CC, Caloy's bestfriend. Caloy is secretly inloved with her and let's his songs do the talking. Marco Morales as Sonny, CC's boyfriend and member of the swimming team. He also ran for Student Council President, and eventually won. Earl Igancio as Caloy's elder brother who was once a member of a band. Other characters are "The Secosana Gang", "The Table Tennis Club", "Cubao Expo group", "The Hate Team", and a lot more.

Some famous rock bands also made some appearences in the show like Spongecola and Eraserheads. The show is narrated by Radioactive Sago Project's vocalist Lourd De Veyra. Rakista was created by Quark Henares and Diego Castillo of Sandwhich.

Note: TV5 had just shown the seems to be last episode of Rakista last November 6, 2008. I just hope it wouldn't be the last. I hope.
